Hillary Bonhomme is a Brooklyn-based musician focused on composing, improvising, and performing original music. She credits her parents’ strict house rules for her evolution in music from childhood to now (think restricted TV time and forbidden access to BET, VH1, and MTV). Without much passive entertainment, her creative practice started early. And don’t worry, she was able to sneak in music videos in the summer when they weren’t looking. She especially thanks her mother for making her explain the content of songs in great detail before being permitted to download from iTunes… her earliest lesson in songwriting.
Her music has been featured in dance theatre works, films, and podcasts. She aims to use music as a 'third space' and social cavern in a divided world.
Outside of her work, Hillary has enjoyed collaborating as a performer. She was a participant in the 2024-2025 choral scholar program with Trinity Wall Street and was a performer in Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Ellen Reid's workshop of new song cycle at National Sawdust.
